A cum shot (sometimes called come shot, facial, pop shot or money shot) is the portion of a pornographic film depicting a man ejaculating (shooting cum) onto either his partner's or his own, body — especially the chest, vulva, stomach,Crotch, face, anus, or buttocks. It usually indicates the completion of a sexual act. The term also refers to individuals masturbating solo, often attempting to show a large or far-shooting ejaculation and posting it on the internet.

Role in pornography

Used since early times, the cum shot was usually an ejaculation near the anus or lower back or onto the face depending on the sexual position portrayed.Since the 1990s, ''cum shot'', as a term, broadened to refer to any ejaculation, onto someone or something. If semen is directed at the recipient's face, the camera shot is called a facial. A film's editor may emphasize orgasm by multiple ejaculation scenes or replays of ejaculations. It is believed the cum shot adds a sense of authenticity to a staged sexual act because, unlike a facial expression or dialogue, it is difficult to fake convincingly.

When the cum shot is from masturbatory pornography, the semen can be directed at several places, some of which may not even be on the body. Bodily destinations can include the abdomen, the face/shoulders (should the semen shoot far enough), the legs, or even the mouth through autofellatio. Locations beyond the body are usually predetermined sets, including wall mirrors, glass tables (for the camera to shoot under) and black table cloths.

There are several variations of the cum shot, including the ''creampie''. The "creampie", an ejaculation into the vagina, anus or mouth of the actor's partner, is called a cum shot if the camera lingers past the moment of orgasm and then records the orifice oozing or expelling semen. Objects or clothing may be targeted in ejaculation, such as stocking-clad legs or a container. The consumption of semen — sometimes advertised as "cumsumption" (a portmanteau of "cum and consumption") — is the primary feature of the Japanese gokkun genre of pornography.

Origin of related term money shot

The cum shot may be referred to by pornography professionals as the ''money shot'', mainstream filmmaking slang for a singularly costly climactic scene. Pornography appropriated "money shot" by analogy; according to Stephen Ziplow, author of ''The Film Maker's Guide to Pornography '', "...the cum shot, or, as some refer to it, 'the money shot', is the most important element in the movie and that everything else (if necessary) should be sacrificed at its expense." Pornography and erotica without cum shots
Cum shots technically do not appear in "girl-girl" scenes as far as the expulsion of semen goes, and orgasm can normally only be implied by moaning and body movement. Although lesbian porn may not show the expulsion of semen, female ejaculation may be present. Softcore pornography usually doesn't show ejaculation in any form.
